De-icing fridge

How to remove ice from your fridge?

Today, modern fridges have NoFrost technology. If you have such an appliance, then you do not need to de-ice your fridge. Instead, a recirculation system removes humidity from the refrigerator and freezer compartments, resulting in dry air which reliably prevents the formation of ice on sides of the appliance in the fridge and freezer compartments and stops frost forming on food. And which also saves a lot of time and effort.

If you do not have an appliance like this and have to de-ice your fridge yourself, then do the following:

1. First, turn your appliance off.
2. Unplug it or turn it off at the fuse. This will ensure that there is no electrical current.
3. Store the frozen goods containers with the food in a cool place. If you have an ice pack, place it on top of the food.
4. Place a shallow dish under the defrosted water outlet to collect the defrosted water from your fridge.
5. Now open the water outlet. (IMAGE!)
6. To speed up the fridge de-icing process, place two pots of hot water on trivets inside your appliance.
7. Once you have de-iced your fridge, empty out the defrosted water you have collected.
8. Wipe away any residual defrosted water from the bottom of the fridge using a sponge.
9. Close the water outlet.
10. Once you have de-iced your fridge, you can reconnect your appliance and turn it back on.
