Which gas cooktop is best for you? Our buying guide.

What's the best gas cooktop for your kitchen and needs? What to look for when buying a new gas cooktop? Our gas cooktops buyer's guide lays out the 5 key factors to keep in mind.

Which is the best gas cooktop for your needs?

What is a gas cooktop and what to look for when buying one? What is the best 5 burner gas cooktop for your needs? Which gas cooktop dimensions are available? These are all common questions when in the market for a new appliance. We're here to help you find the right one.

When choosing a new gas cooktop, you'll want to first determine the required size as well as how many burners it should have. Then choose the finish: stainless steel and black tempered glass are popular options. Innovations like FlameSelect provide precise control of the flame and make gas cooking even more enjoyable.

Read on to find out what exactly to look for when buying a new gas cooktop.

1. Which gas cooktop sizes fit my kitchen?

A 90cm gas cooktop. A 75cm gas cooktop. A 60cm gas cooktop. Our gas cooktops come in three different widths to ensure you'll find one that suits your needs and preferences. One benefit of an extra-wide, 5 burner 90cm gas cooktop: ample space to cook fish, boil pasta and steam broccoli in parallel.

Ultimately, the best gas cooktop for you depends on factors like your cooking habits and the width of your kitchen worktop.

Pro tip: You can upgrade from a 60cm gas cooktop to a 75cm gas cooktop without changing the cutout.

2. How many burners do I need?

A 5-burner, 90cm gas cooktop with a two-flame wok burner is both beautiful and functional. But a gas cooktop with 4 burners might perfectly suit your needs. To determine the right number and types of burners, consider these key factors:

  • Space in your kitchen
  • Your cooking habits
  • Your household size

Pro tip: Want to regularly whip up elaborate meals, and have ample space at your disposal? You won't regret selecting a Bosch 5-ring gas cooktop.

3. Which finish suits my tastes?

Glass on a gas cooktop is trending. An elegant black gas cooktop – in tempered glass or ceramic – adds a sophisticated note to the heart of your home. For an industrial edge, there's stainless steel or black metal.

A cooktop is the visual centrepiece of your kitchen, so it's crucial to select one with eye appeal. After all, shouldn't your gas cooktop look as good as it cooks?

Pro tip: Visit a local Bosch retailer to see and touch the surfaces first-hand.

4. What gas cooktop innovations are there?

If it's been awhile since you last bought a gas cooktop, you'll be pleased to discover FlameSelect, which gives you precise control of the flame.

The advantages? A consistently high temperature to sear a steak. Or a consistently low one to cook creamy scrambled eggs. Making ratatouille? Medium heat always yields perfect results.

Available on most of our models, FlameSelect lets you choose from nine pre-defined power levels. So you always know exactly how strong the flame is – even though you can't see it.

5. What features make cleaning easier?

Let's be honest: even the world's biggest gas cooktop fans wish there were an easier way to remove the traces of last night's lip-smacking osso buco. While we can't (yet) offer you a self-cleaning cooktop, we do have some tips:

  • Look for a cooktop with dishwasher-proof pan supports. When dirty, simply run them through the dishwasher. Voilà – good as new!
  • After cooking, soak high-quality enamel pan supports in the sink. Then effortlessly wipe off the grime.
  • A glass gas cooktop with rounded edges is generally easier to clean. Why? Because the dirt has nowhere to collect.

Bear these tips in mind when selecting a new appliance for your kitchen.

Cooktop reviews: what do others say?

Bosch Series 8 induction cooktop

Love it! Flex cooking is brilliant innovation, and some nice additions are the timers. Works as good as it looks, amazing. We have Bosch Oven and dishwaser and now the cooktop, a great trio. We will book in to one of the demo classes for betterr understanding of features etc. My only recommendation would be to include the cleaning and care kit.

Good cook top, but controls can be very senstive

I recently purchased the Bosch Series 4 induction cooktop and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. The cooktop heats up quickly and evenly, making cooking a breeze. While the cooktop is basic in terms of features, it still has everything I need to cook delicious meals for my family. The touch controls are intuitive and easy to use, and the sleek design adds a modern touch to my kitchen. Overall, I would highly recommend the Bosch Series 4 induction cooktop to anyone in the market for a reliable and efficient cooktop.

Great induction hob

This was an excellent hob for 3 years until it died unexpectedly this past week. Would of thought for the price it would last a lot longer! Still was a great hob easy to use and great for frying and boiling. Loved the timer also.
